New Back door on listed building

Do I Need Permission - Ask An Expert Do I need permission to change the back door on a B-listed property in a conservation area in Scotland. It’s not visible from any public roads. The door isn’t original, but we want a modern fully glazed door, and to change it to an outward opening door. Thanks, you’ll settle an argument one way or the other!

    Hi Iain.

As your property is listed you would require listed building consent for this type of alteration even though the door may not be original.

You may or may not require conservation consent this can depend on what restrictions have been put in place for your particular conservation area.

I would recommend giving your local council a call and ask to speak to the duty planning officer, they will be able to give you some advice on your conservation area.

Thanks for using Do I Need Permission.
