Barn change of use

Do I Need Permission - Ask An Expert We have a large stone built barn as part of our property. We wish to use this as a commercial kitchen. Would we be required to seek planning permission for a change of use for this building?

Hi Matthew. The simple answer is yes you would need planning permission for the change of use of the barn, from whatever it is currently used for (storage?), to a commercial kitchen. You would need to detail on any application (if there are to be any) any external alterations to the building, new doors, windows, flues etc. I hope this helps. Regards.
