Building warrant required?

Building warrant required?

Do I Need Permission - Ask An Expert Good Morning

Would I need a building warrant to install an internal partition wall in a commercial property? This would not be providing any change of use and is simply for storage purpose although it would include installing lighting into new portioned area.

    Jason.

If this is only for storage purposes and no alterations are being made to the structure of the building including any new external door or window openings and this is not to house sanitary accommodation or any fuel appliance it is unlikely this will require a building warrant.

Please note that although this type of work may not require a building warrant you will still have to meet building regulation with regards to the use of this room and fire escape, protection, detectors etc… depending on the type of building.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for using Do I Need Permission.
