Change of Use from Pub/Hotel to Residential property

Change of Use from Pub/Hotel to Residential property

We are interested in buying a run down pub that is in receivership, but do not understand the Change of Use requirements. We would like to convert the pub/hotel back into a home again. What do we need to do, please?
Regards,
Graham

    Graham,

The project you have in mind will require a change of use application to be made to the planning department. Depending on what you have in mind for the internal alterations to facilitate this, a building warrant application may also be required. I am experienced in this area have found both to be quite achievable. I would be happy to offer you further assistance if you wish to get in touch,

    Graham,

It is also worth checking if the property is a Listed Building (Historic Scotland Website – http://pastmap.org.uk/ ) as this could have implications on your proposal and check with the Local Council Planning Department if they have any specific policies preventing the conversion of the pub to a house before purchasing.
