Completion of work where no Building Warrant

Completion of work where no Building Warrant

Do I Need Permission - Ask An Expert I have written confirmation from Building Control that I don’t now need a Building Warrant as exemption applies to both new cattery buildings. Being exempt seem to have taken councils building control by surprise (as they described it as having “opened a can of worms”). Since I don’t require a Building Warrant is it now simply up to me to ensure the correct standards of construction, materials, etc are adhered to and no completion certifate applies? Has no ever tried to create a more user friendly, plain English guide to Planning Applications and Warrants? Not all Council websites appear to be saying the same things. Once the building work is finished I will have to apply for a Cattery Boarding Llicense. Is this then the only Council inspection that will apply?

Copy of Building Control confirmation attached.

    Hello Ray.

Building warrants and planning permissions are very confusing, at Do I Need Permission we try and make it a lot simpler to understand and have our ask an expert pages if anyone gets stuck.

As long as you build what you have said you are building you don’t need to get building control to sign this off once the works are complete. Make sure you keep hold of your letter saying that warrant wasn’t required.

If you want complete piece of mind you could provide a drawing to building control and get them to confirm that a building warrant wasn’t required. They may charge you a fee for this.

Although warrant was not required you are right you still have to comply with building regulation in ensuring that the building is build correctly and is structurally safe.

Thanks for using Do I Need Permission.
