Conservatory Planning Permission

Conservatory Planning Permission

Do I Need Permission - Ask An Expert Hello

I have a small upvc conservatory at the rear of my house with one external opening door. I wish to add another external opening door (identical in size/, etc to the original) to allow access onto a new decked area.

Area of conservatory is appox 11’3” x 7′ 6” and it was built approx 20 yrs ago

House is not in conservation area, is not listed and the conservatory is not close to neighboring walls/boundaries etc.

Do I need panning permission or a building warrant?

Picture attached – the door way would be in the right hand panel opening out onto a deck

  1. Hi Neil.

You would not need planning permission for this unless you live in a conservation area.

From the dimensions you have provide it sounds like your conservatory is just under the limit for requiring a building warrant (8m sq) therefore you would not need a building warrant to carry out these works.

Please note although a building warrant may not be required any alterations you make should still comply with building regulations.

Thanks for using Do I Need Permission
