Derelict Farm Buildings

Derelict Farm Buildings

Do I Need Permission - Ask An Expert We have an old farm building on our land. It is in the form of a longhouse, all one building. I assume one section was a garage/store then living accommodation and finally animal housing. There is only roofing left on the animal part and this is not a full roof.

I would like to repair/replace the roof on the animal part and either convert the remainder to storage or demolish it.

I believe under permitted development I can repair the roof without planning consent. Is this correct? Would I need planning for the other options?

    Hello Jeff.

You can repair and replace with out planning permission as long as the building is not listed or in a conservation area.

If you were changing the use of the building you would need planning permission.

Thanks for using Do I Need Permission.
