Do I Need Permission - Ask An Expert

I am intending to alter the roof i have on my conservatory which is 23 meters square. at the moment it si polycarbonate and i have had a quote to change this to a Metrolite tiled roof. do you know if i need to apply for planning permission and also would i have to get a biulding warrant.

I called my local authority 18 months back and they said no permission would be required as i was changing the material of the roof. the polycarbonate panels will remain these will not be taken out.

thank you

    Hello,

Assuming you property is not within a Conservation Area and/or a Listed Building, you would not need Planning Approval, as the works would be considered ‘Permitted Development’.

In terms of a Building Warrant, it is likely the work would require a warrant (and may be a Structural Engineer) as you will be changing the loads affecting the roof, which the conservatory was originally designed to withstand. Happy to discuss this aspect further.
