Fence Permission

Fence Permission

Hi we live on a steep hill and my neighbours house on the left ( looking at the front of the house is set about a metre higher than mine. He has decided to make some extensive amendments internally to his house which includes french windows to the rear of the property. He has now proceeded to build decking which is approx 1.5 meters higher than my garden. we are in process of building a fence to the highest statory height but my neighbours will still have a unblocked view of my garden

Does he 1) require planning permission and 2) what are my rights re privacy.

    Thanks for your question.

If the deck is more than 300mm from ground level it would require planning permission.

You can view other restrictions for decking on our timber deck page http://doineedpermission.co.uk/planning-permission-timber-decks

The planning restrictions are there to ensure suitable structures and to protect surrounding neighbours.

If planning permission has not been granted for the deck your local planning department enforcement officer will be able to assist you.

    Thankyou, Do I Need Permission.
