Internal changes and extension

Internal changes and extension

Do I Need Permission - Ask An Expert We are considering purchasing a single storey cottage in a conservation are. The cottage is a listed building grade C.
I understand we would have to apply for planning permission but can you inform if there is any reason this would not be granted.
Two questions:
We would like to remove some plaster board internal walls in order to change part of the ground floor from 2 to one bedroom, move the bathroom into the second bedroom. This would create a decent sized living room.
We would like to extend the building by approx. 25 sq mtrs to create another bedroom and bathroom.
The area of the cottage at present is about 80 sq mtrs
Details of the premises for sale are available on Zoopla Kilrenny 2 Kirk Wynd

    Hi Chris.

With a grade C listing generally you will be able to make internal alteration without any issues.

The extension you would need to have discussion with the local council on. If there are similar houses in the area check on the council planning website and you will be able to see if anyone has applied for a similar type of extension and if it was granted.

Thanks for using Do I Need Permission.
