Moving Earth

Moving Earth

Do I Need Permission - Ask An Expert Hi,

Would I need planning permission to modify and move some mounds of earth (approx 5 metres tall) in a acre sized field? Essentiall it would be a case of flattening the ground as much as possible, but also using the moved earth to create a sloping hill near the rear of the field. Thanks for any advice.

    Afternoon Phil,

This is not an easy one to answer based on the information you have provided.
Fundamentally it depends on why you are seeking to do this work and what purposes the land is used for now and post works.
Agricultural Permitted Developments Rights do permitted ‘any excavation or engineering operations, requisite for the purposes of agriculture’ subject to certain provisos. However, if the reason for undertaking the level work is not agricultural based, it is likely planning permission will be required.

Happy to discuss further if required.

    Kind Regards,
