Outline Planning

Do I Need Permission - Ask An Expert I’m selling my house and think that it may sell quicker if I had outline planning permission to build one dwelling on the 3rd of an acre garden.
What is Outline planning and what is the process for application ?

Hello Elisabeth. Outline Planning Permission (now called Planning Permission in Principle) is permission for the principle of subdividing the garden grounds and erecting a dwelling, with no details generally being necessary other than identification of the boundary of the new plot (the application site), and the means of access from the highway. All of the other matters such as siting, design, external appearance and landscaping are reserved for subsequent approval, i.e. a further application for these must be made (usually by the purchaser of the plot). The application fee for a PPP application for a single house is £382, and there may be an advertisement fee required (usually about £150). I hope this helps? regards. Mike Hyde
