Patio Door removal and replace

Patio Door removal and replace

Do I Need Permission - Ask An Expert Hi

I wonder if you could advise I have double glazed patio doors which go from my dinning room into the conservatory and would like to take these out and replace with internal bifolding doors which are not double glazed is this allowed?

Kind regards

    Hello Elaine.

The building regulations require any doors between a conservatory and house are exterior grade doors. Therefore you would need to either fit double glazed doors with no less of an insulation value than the current doors (or better) or solid doors that have an equal or better insulation value.

Note remove of the existing doors and replacing with internal doors could have a big impact on how warm your house feels, lots of heat would be lost through the conservatory.

Thanks for using Do I Need Permission.
