Patio sliding doors

Patio sliding doors

Do i need planning permission to install patio sliding doors to the kitchen which is situated at the back of my house? and how much is it likely to cost for drawings and permission if so?

Many thanks.

  1. Thanks for your enquiry.

You will not require planning approval for these works, unless the property is listed or within a conservation area.

However, if you are creating a new opening, or enlarging an existing window opening within the external wall of the kitchen to install the sliding doors into, then you will require Building Warrant Approval from the local authority. The fee to the local authority for the application will be £100. Please contact me direct if you want further information on fees for production of necessary drawings.

Hope this is helpful. Thank you.
