Putting things in order

Do I Need Permission - Ask An Expert Hi,

I recently inherited a property.
There were some internal modifications done by the previous owners about which I am not sure whether permission was sought or not.
I can’t find the planning permission documents.
Now I would like to put things in order.
Where do I start from?

Shall I get the modifications reviewed by a surveyor so that it can be re-modified per the standards and then apply for permission?

Thanks

    Hello.

Depending on when the works were carried out you can normally check back about 10 years on you local councils planning or building warrant sections.

Just put in your property and it should bring up a record of any warrants or planning permissions that have been applied for or granted.

If you have no luck with this you can speak to the councils planning or building control department and they can do a search for you. There may be a fee for this depending on how far back you want to search.

Thanks for using Do I Need Permission
