Removing disabled access ramp in lounge

Removing disabled access ramp in lounge

Do I Need Permission - Ask An Expert I’m currently converting my garage into a lounge and as it’s on a different level (4 inches) from the rest of my house, to comply with building regs I need to provide a disabled access ramp to connect the lounge to the hall. Clearly this is not an attractive feature. My question is, once I receive my completion certificate, can I remove the ramp and replace it with a step? Do I need to notify anyone of this change? I’ve read posts where home owners have done similar changes with external ramps and wanted to confirm the same would apply for an internal case.

Thanks for your help.

    Hello Dave.

Is there a reason why you cant build all the floor up to the same level as the main house?

Generally if you are converting a garage you will have to upgrade the insulation in the floor to meet current values you could use this to increase your insulation and bring it up to the same floor level as the main house?

Thanks for using Do I Need Permission
