Removing partitions

Removing partitions

I wish to take away a non load bearing partition wall between my kitchen and dining room to open up the space. The wall already has a doorway in it at the moment, I am proposing to take it away completely. This is made of gyprock and is not a supporting wall.

I also wish to block off a living room door as I have two. Do I need a warrant for this ? and do I need to supply very complicated drawings including, elevation, energy efficiency etc as stated in the council pages.

Yes, this would require a building warrant.

For an alteration like this you would need,

    · Location plan.

    · Existing floor plans.

    · Proposed floor plans.

    · Any specific details for new work.

As you are only taking partitions away that are between rooms this doesn’t affect the thermal performance of the house so would not be required.

Thanks for using Do I Need Permission.
