replace patiodoors with windows

Do I Need Permission - Ask An Expert I have timber patio doors they have a grill in front and do not allow access to the garden (2 ft drop) Do I need planning permission to replace with 2 windows. I live in a ground floor flat and not in a conservation area and that flat is not listed etc in any way.

Any advice appreciated

    Eddie.

You wouldn’t require planning permission to change a door to a window as long as its not a listed building, in a conservation area and you are keeping the over all opening of the door/window the same as existing.

Building warrant wise you wouldn’t require a warrant as long as you make sure the new window meets the building regulations for example, if the door is currently classified as an escape route you would have to ensure the new window complies for escape also. You would also have to consider ventilation requirements.

Thanks for using Do I Need Permission.
