Stables to residential dwelling

Stables to residential dwelling

Hi. Just wondering if permission would be needed to convert stables to a one level dwelling. I have heard you are able to develop on a percentage of your land to improve. Is this correct? Conversion would not increase traffic etc

    Good evening,

Planning permission would be required for changing the use of the building from an agricultural use (stables) to a residential dwelling. If the building is listed, listed building consent would also be required.

A building warrant would also be required.

Planning permission deals with the use of buildings and how the use affects the wider area, as well as the visual aspects of a development, while building warrants deal with the technical side of construction, ensuring the building is converted safely to a warm, safe and energy efficient home. Both permissions are obtained from your local council.

Please feel free to get in touch should you wish more specific advice.
