Do I Need Permission - Ask An Expert

Hi I’m planning work to be done on my standalone brick garage on concrete base to convert this to a room with a toilet what permission should I require for this work, no structural alterations to be undertaken other than the replaced steel garage door for upbc door and window with similar brick wall.

    Hi Gregg

    If this is an existing building and it meets the following criteria you would not need planning permission.

    Not in a conservation area.
    Not part of a listed building.
    Is not going to be used as a bedroom.

    For building warrant if you are installing sanitary accommodation e.g. a WC you would need to apply for a building warrant.
