Do I Need Permission - Ask An Expert Hi we had an open plan living room and kitchen with doors to both rooms so you could potentially go round in a circle. Off the living room there is French doors and straight ahead from the kitchen door the front door is situated. To make better use if the living room space and kitchen space we joined the inshot walls between the kitchen and living room (1 metre approx) do I need to get this certified by the council?

    Hello Lynn.

As long as you have not made any alteration to the structure of the building (i.e. you have just in filled the opening the timber and plasterboard you would not need a building warrant for this.

Permission would be required if your property is part of a flat or apartment.

Thanks for using Do I Need Permission.
