My father had a wet room fitted in his home in June 2010. He died recently and we are selling his home. The prospective buyer is looking for a building warrant for the wet room and I need to know whether I need to get one retrospectively. The work was carried out on instruction from the Council’s Social Work Department and was completed by a company called ‘Care and Repair’ which is a subsidiary of a local housing association. My father was in a downstairs flat and the only physical alteration to put the wet room in was to remove the bath and link up the drain for the shower to the existing bath drain and of course the leveling of the floor. No windows/doors/toilet or wash hand basin were affected in its construction.
